Martha J. Clayburn, 75, went to her heavenly home early Saturday morning, December 25, 2021, following an extended illness. She was born on August 11, 1946 in Jamestown, Tennessee the daughter of Hulet and Dellie (Potter) Stephens.
Martha graduated from York Agricultural Institute School in 1964 and later married the love of her life, Robert A. Clayburn, Sr., on February 17, 1968, in Jamestown. Mrs. Clayburn had worked for a short period of time for Anchor-Hocking Glass in Winchester as an assembly line worker prior to becoming a homemaker most of her working life. She enjoyed baking, canning, gardening and to say she was a good cook would be an understatement! Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Besides her husband of 53 years, Robert, she is survived by two daughters, Teresa Redmond (Chris), Edgewood and Kimberly York (Jerry), Selma; two granddaughters, Kambrey Jolley, Selma and Lyndsey VanDam (Matt), Pendleton; one sister, Genevieve Blevins, Jamestown, TN; special great nephew, Mason Lee, Alabama; several nieces and nephews; two very special friends, Kathy Small (Jimmy), Selma and Don Price, Muncie.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert A. Clayburn, Jr. in 1972; parents; nine siblings, Jimmy, Gene, Jackie, Janet, Glenda, Patsy, Margaret, Linda and Janell.
Friends may call at Parson Mortuary on Thursday evening, December 30, 2021, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Mrs. Clayburn will be taken to Jamestown, TN where Jennings Funeral Home will be entrusted with the services. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, January 7, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again at Jennings Funeral Home on Saturday, January 8, 2022, from 12:00 P.M. until the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow at the Roanoke Cemetery.
