Judy Ann Wright was born in December, 1951 in Jamestown, Tennessee to Ruth Nell (Copeland) and Willie Wright. She was the first person in her family to attend college, graduating from Ball State University in 1993, with a degree in criminal justice and psychology. In 1979 she joined the police department in Muncie, Indiana, and over the course of her 26-year career became one of the first female lieutenants in the state. She loved her 1969 Mercury Cougar, Loretta Lynn and Elvis Presley, her children, and grandchildren, and above all Jesus.
She is survived by her:
Children, Chad Willie Denton Wright and his wife Amanda
Joliange Ruth Wright and her husband Robert Monn
Shane Gregory Smith and his wife Andrea
Grandchildren, Chad Wright Jr., Willie Monn-Wright, and Mason and Maddison Smith
She was also much beloved by her brother Jimmie Wright of Crossville, and his wife Margaret, and their children and grandchildren, who called her Aunt Judy
She will be remembered for her strength and hard-headedness, her lifelong love of learning and trying new things, and the high standards she held for herself and others. Judy was an important woman, and her memory can be honored by remembering all the things she overcame to accomplish what she did in just seventy-one years. May she rest in peace.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Jennings Funeral Homes Chapel in Jamestown. Burial will follow in the Honey Springs Cemetery in Overton County.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Jennings Funeral Homes Chapel in Jamestown.
