Deana Hardin Obituary

Deana Hardin, age 67 of Jamestown, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

The beloved Deana Rae Hardin has gone to be with the Lord.  A longtime resident of Martinsville, Indiana, she was born in Martinsville and raised in Mooresville.  She married Barry in June, 1972.

After helping Barry build their retirement home on Bluebird Ridge in Jamestown, Tennessee this year and driving as a substitute school bus driver for the Jamestown schools, this fall, she became a victim of the Covid-19 Pandemic and succumbed in the hospital.

She was a Mill Creek Schools bus driver in her early adult years and a MSD Martinsville Schools bus driver for 26 years before retiring.  She was considered one of the top drivers for the schools’ activities and field trips.  She was head of the Sunshine fund for the bus drivers; this displayed how she always looked out for the hurting and downtrodden around her.

Her leisure time centered around the joy of Western trail riding being an avid showman and trail rider, she had ridden hundreds of mile in many states including Indiana, Tennessee and many south and northwestern states.  She participated in Pinto Horse and Palomino Horse Shows and was a volunteer for Indiana Trail Riders and the Giddy-Up-Gals Trail ride where she would speak at their Sunday worship service.

She is survived by her husband, Barry, their son Bradley Coltt and step grandson, Tyler Rohland, sister Barbara Louise (Joel) Fischer and brother-in-law David “Mike” Michael Shaner.  She is also survived by 2 nieces, 3 nephews, 3 great nieces, one great nephew and one great-great niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents Mary Louise (Tincher) and Kenneth Eugene Hill, a nephew and followed in death a few hours later by her sister Kathryn “Kathy” Marie Shaner (also a Covid-19 victim).

She was known by those who loved her for making lemonade out of her life’s lemons and never letting life’s difficulties get her down.  She was an example of cheerful coping for all who knew her; this came from her saving faith in and lordship of Jesus Christ.
