William Frank "Captain" Smith Obituary

WILLIAM FRANK "CAPTAIN" SMITH, age 77 of Jamestown, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at his home.
 
Funeral service will be Sunday, June 9, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Jennings Funeral Homes Chapel in Jamestown. Burial will follow in the FENTRESS MEMORIAL GARDENS with Military Service at graveside provide by the American Legion Post 137.
 
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Jennings Funeral Homes Chapel in Jamestown. 
 
William Frank “Captain” Smith was born on July 25, 1941 in Jamestown, TN. He joined the Army right out of high school and served for 4 years and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. After serving our country, he worked at Independent Life Insurance Company in Tupelo, Mississippi. He was a manager, then was promoted to special agent until 1981.
Frank and Faye returned home to Jamestown, Tennessee and he got a job at BaLou’s Do-It Center. Soon after, he ran for Circuit Court Clerk and was elected and served for 5 terms (20 years). Frank retired for 4 years, but wasn’t ready to quit working. He ran and was voted in as County Executive for Fentress County for 4 years (2010-2014).
Frank also was known for coaching girls’ softball, in Richmond, Mississippi with Paul Wood and he continued coaching after returning home to Jamestown, Tennessee for 20 years.
William Frank “Captain” Smith loved many things but most of all he loved Fentress County and its people, Clarkrange Lady Buffaloes Basketball and UT Lady Vols and Pat Summit.

Wife of 55 years, FAYE (WILLIAMS) SMITH
Children, GARY "CHUCKY" SMITH and wife BECKY
               TAMMIE FRANKLIN and husband JIM
               EDDY SMITH and wife MANDY
               MISTY LINDER and husband NATHANIEL
10 GRANDCHILDREN
12 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN
2 GREAT GREAT GRANDCHILDREN
Sisters, FRANCES BLEDSOE and husband VICTOR
             MILDRED BEATY
Sister-in-Law, OLENE (TURNER) SMITH
