Burtchie Bumbalough, age 71, of Byrdstown, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
The family has chosen cremation. A military memorial service will be held at a later date at the Nashville National Cemetery.
Burtchie gave to all of his family and wanted everybody to celebrate life. He was born on January 21, 1948 in Monterey, Tennessee but spent most of his life in Jay County, Indiana. He served in the Army in 1965. He went on to serve in the Navy from 1965 to 1972. Burtchie received the following medals: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Naval Unit Commendation. After leaving the service, he returned to civilian life, married and had children. His family continues to grow with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling as a truck driver for many years. He loved anything to do with cars and also has his own automotive business. Other hobbies of his was gambling and eating.
